Come Get Yer Handouts

Like a bunch of refugees pushing and shoving for the MREs that are being handed out the back of an army truck, America’s financially troubled companies (which is like all of them) are vigorously competing for the $700 billion handout from the U.S. government.

Something is very wrong with our economic structure. I’m not sure what that “thing” is yet, but this can’t be the way a healthy society is run.

God help us.

Excellent comment and excellent blog. I have enjoyed reading your work. I too am a great fan of Chesterton and the line of thinking he and Belloc devised for and economy and a society. Yet I fear we are too selfish to see it work.

Yep, we are either too selfish or too comfortable with the status quo. I suspect it’s more of the latter. We are prone to hesitation when an ideal presents itself to us. We have a way of convincing ourselves that things are “good enough” the way they are. All in all, we human beings are timid creatures.

I’m glad you enjoy the blog. Thank you for your kind words.
